How to enable cookies

Internet Explorer: Version 5.x

How to enable cookies in Internet Explorer Across the very top of the screen are a series of words. Look for the word Tools and click on it once.


A menu will drop down. Look for the words Internet Options… and click on it once.


A window will pop up and there will be a series of ‘tabs’ near the top of this window. Look for the tab labeled Security and click on it once.


The window will change and now within the window will be a series of 5 icons. A globe, two computers, a green-circled check mark and a red circled minus sign. Click once on the globe.


Near the bottom of the screen there should be a button labeled Custom Level…, click on this button once.

A new window pops up with a series of options. Using the scroll bar along the right side, scroll down until you see the work Cookies.


There are two option under Cookies:

Allow cookies that are stored on your computer

  • Disable
  • Enable
  • Prompt Allow per-session cookies (not stored) Click in the circle beside Enable under both of these options.

    Click on the OK button at the bottom of the screen.

    A window will pop up asking if you are sure you want to change the security settings.


    Click on the Yes button.

    Click on the OK button at the bottom of the next screen.

    You have now enabled cookies.
